Whitney Wolfe has an impressive career as far as entrepreneurs go. She was one of the first developers in the online dating world when she decided to work at Hatch Labs to develop the online dating app Tinder. She enjoyed her work there but felt there was something lacking in Tinder's culture. She had experienced sexual harassment while working at Hatch Labs and wanted to do something about it. After settling a lawsuit she decided to set out on her own and create Bumble.

+ Stepping Out On Her Own

What separates Bumble from so many other online dating apps is the focus on creating a safe environment for women. Sexual harassment is a very common issue in the world of online dating. There plenty of examples of men using these dating apps to expose themselves and insult women, but things of that sort are rarely seen on Bumble. In heterosexual encounters women always make the first move. This creates an atmosphere where it's simply not possible for harassment to occur very frequently. That stands in direct contrast to what is typical of online dating in general.
